Day 1 night trip
The
Patagonian Andes make up most of this park.
Peaks of up to 2000 metres contain ice fields
that terminate in dramatic hanging glaciers.
In the evergreen forests there are thousands
of different species of vegetation: big ferns,
wild rhubarb with giant leaves and masses of
wild flowers. This area is inhabited by small
deer called Pudu, wild cats, otters and a great
variety of birds.
Day
1
We
will leave Coyhaique heading north on a spectacular
part of the Carreretera Austral. We will go
through the River Simpson Reserve, the town
of Manihuales and have a break at the Pedro
Aguirre Cerda lagoon. On arriving at the park
we will follow the trails and get to see the
spectacular glacier. We will have a picnic lunch
and in the evening arrive at the Fjord Quelat
cabins ( or similar accommodation ) where we
will spend the night. A delicious dinner made
of locally grown produce will be provided.
Day
2
We
will continue our journey travelling south.
Our return trip to Coyhaique will be on a different
