I
The northern icefield is aproximately 120 kms
by 80 kms of glacial ice and ice field features
which includes the highest summit in Patagonia,
San Valetin, which is 4056m high. The San Rafael
glacier is one of the biggest and goes down
to the sea in the San Rafael lagoon. We will
leave Coyhaique in a small plane and fly over
the most important lakes, the mountain range
of Cerro Castillo, the Hudson volcano and other
high mountains. We will over fly the icefield
to the glacier, following it's descent to the
San Rafael Lagoon. Here we will land and take
a boat that goes through the ice flow and up
to the face of the glacier which is about 40
metres high. We will get to drink whiskey on
the rocks with ice from the glacier!
